Settle for Less Sorry

When I suggest settling for less sorry, I am not referring to being truly apologetic for something. I am suggesting not using the word sorry for things you did not cause. Personally, I am the biggest offender of using the word sorry incorrectly.

After doing some Googling I found the suggestion of using thank you instead of sorry. Here's examples of using thank you instead of sorry.

“I’m sorry. Can I ask a favor?” “Thank you for being willing to help.”

“Sorry I can’t come.” ” Thank you for inviting me; I can’t make it.”

“I’m sorry I forgot.” “Thank you for reminding me.”

“I’m sorry to bother you.” “Thank you for your time.”

“I’m sorry I’m so bad at this.” “Thank you for helping me.”

I'm going to settle for less sorry, so I can use my sorry when I really need to apologize for something I have caused. By doing this my words will have more meaning, and it might even help my self-esteem and how others view me.
