Settle for Less Invisibility

We choose invisibility when we shrink ourselves through silence. When faced with an issue where we have something to say but remain silent, we choose to be invisible. Perhaps we choose invisibility because it seems safe, a way to protect ourselves from criticism or admit our own shortcomings.
However, the truth is no one is safe when we silence ourselves. We endanger our communities, our peers, and ourselves when we choose invisibility.
Settling for less invisibility doesn't mean forcing our beliefs on others. It means speaking our truth in a manner that invites discussion and positive change. Speaking our truth means being willing to share our stories, our insights, and our concerns—even when it feels uncomfortable. The status quo is not inherently good; therefore, to grow, we must use our voices, help others find theirs, and listen to differing perspectives.
Speaking our truth unlocks the power to challenge dangerous ideas, uplift those around us, and advocate for improvements. Additionally, we model the way for others to speak their truth.
Settle for less invisibility so you can embrace your identity, contribute your knowledge, and help build a better tomorrow.
