Anxiety is a buzzword these days. We’re constantly bombarded with advice on how to eliminate it from our lives. But what if we stopped seeing it as our enemy? The more we judge anxiety as something that must be banished, the more power it gains over us—and we lose our ability to use it as a tool.
Understanding what anxiety is
It’s how we respond to feeling threatened, under pressure or stressed: for example, if we have an exam, job interview or doctor’s appointment.
Anxiety isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It can spur us on, help us stay alert, make us aware of risks and motivate us to solve problems. - Mental Health Foundation
Settle for less anxiety judging because the problem may not be anxiety but how the anxiety is viewed. When viewed as an opportunity to explore our feelings and situations, anxiety becomes a powerful tool in embracing our self-awareness and knowing what our next step should be.
By viewing anxiety as a partner in self-discovery, you may find that it’s not the enemy—it’s a guide.
