Playing pretend is an important part of childhood development. It develops our imagination and creativity while providing us with endless opportunities to explore. However, pretending to be someone we are not to please others or fit in is harmful. When we mold ourselves to fit other's expectations, we lose our identity.
“I know who I am; I’m clear about that, and I’m not going to negotiate that with you… I may fit in for you, but I no longer belong to myself, and that is a betrayal I’m not willing to do that anymore.” — Brené Brown
Settle for less pretending because who you are - your authentic self - is unique, amazing, and worthy!
